Marcos tells us in his own words his drive behind creating The Courtyard and what he loves most about working there:
"I love the ability of creating an environment where people can feel relaxed and develop trust with me. I love offering the opportunity of joining a practice where you can be looked after by the same dentist for the next 30 years. I feel that level of continuity and personal service creates a level of trust that is invaluable. I want my patients to know that their teeth and smile is taken care of and they have one less thing to worry about."
"I am constantly trying to evolve and improve the level of care we provide. At The Courtyard we currently have in the region of 1000 patients on our membership. I carry out the check ups for all my patients. My team of hygienists and dental therapists carry out all the hygiene for our patients and also help me in carrying out the majority of white fillings at the practice".
"This frees my time up to allow me to diagnose and treat complex cases, both on new patients and my long standing clients. Having experience in invisalign, implants and veneers I have built a practice and team that means any treatment required can be carried out under one roof by me and my team".
Marcos describes in his own words what drove him to design and build a practice like The Courtyard:
"Having worked in a number of practices before coming to work at The Courtyard I could never understand why they always looked so bad! There were always A4 posters blu tacked to the walls, uncomfortable chairs and a grumpy receptionist. And the smell. That clinical smell of alcohol and x ray chemicals that inspired fear into a generation of patients."
"I decided that a dental practice didn't need to look like that. And if we made a practice look like places people liked to visit like bars, hotels and restaurants then that would make people feel more relaxed. We then discovered that if we were nice to our patients, took the time to explain what we were doing before we did it people would again feel more relaxed visiting us. Before long our patients sent in their friends and family members and we now add take on an average of 40 new patients a month."
Marcos describes in his own words his ethos towards dentistry:
"We only provide dentistry that improves the health and appearance of your smile. Sounds obvious doesn't it? But it's really not that common in general dentistry. Silver fillings, gold crowns, dentures often serve to make a smile look worse."
"At our practice we only place white fillings and white crowns. We avoid using metal at all costs, not only because it is unsightly but because it is bad for teeth. Let me explain. Metal fillings are stronger than teeth. The forces placed on metal fillings in chewing and grinding are distributed to the outside walls of the tooth causing cracks, fracture and breakage of the surrounding tooth. Since we stopped placing metal fillings at the practice in 2009 we have not seen teeth break in this way. Once our patients see for themselves with our intra oral photos the damage being done by metal fillings they often request to have them replaced with white fillings."
"I also believe that the better someone's smile looks the better they will care for it. That is why we have developed so much experience in cosmetic dentistry because we truly believe it has a beneficial effect on how patients care for the health of their teeth. We call this motivational dentistry. Someone with a bright white smile and white fillings will always take more pride in their smile than someone with yellow teeth and silver fillings."
